You know a toy is good when it’s based on pre-existing medical technology. USA Today ran an article today about an upcoming toy that “trains ‘Star Wars’ fans to use The Force”. Apparently, the toy comes with a headset that measures EEG readings from your brain. Concentration will turn on the fan in the device, and presumably, also allow you to change the intensity of the flow, raising and lowering the “training sphere”, a.k.a. ping pong ball.
I love random Star Wars licensing. C-3PO cereal? Bring it on. Yoda backpack? Yes, please. Jabba the Hutt beanbag chair? Say no more! (Hint: Check out this post on the Action Figure Insider blog for more rejected Star Wars merchandise.) I’m at least partially amused by any Star Wars product. Now, I’m probably not going to drop $90-100 on something like this, where the novelty will wear off after the first use, but the technology itself is definitely interesting. This is just one step closer to mind controlled everything. Video games, tv’s, cars, computers. Pretty advanced stuff to be used in a child’s toy.
